Literature

I don't use a lot of literature in my kindergarten art classes, but try to focus on a book for art work three or four times a year. This year we read "Only One You" and the sequel "You Be You" by Linda Krantz.
Her designs for the little "fish" in these books are bright, colorful and loaded with pattern.
  • We created "fish" on 6x9 manila paper that I had rounded off corners to make the bean-like oval shape from her books. I gave them a list of things they had to have on their project which were...
  • an eye, a fin, one or two patterns and a mouth.
  • Then students colored them with markers.
